Tanya Fischer, BScP
Insulin IQ Certified Coach
“As a health coach, I love to empower busy, motivated people with intuitive strategies around food and lifestyle that improve, maintain, and optimize their functioning to undertake all of their life’s adventures. I aim for an easy and effective relationship with food, one that leaves room for food pleasure and joy, but has a firm foundation in principles that will ensure wellness as we age.”
“I love to solve the food and movement piece for my client so that they can accomplish all the amazing things they want to do and become the best version of themselves they can envision. It’s all about your ‘why’, getting the life you want, and having the foundational principes to support that. We have big things to do and little time to do it, so a well functioning body is a must to thrive throughout our lifespan.”

“My interest in health and well being began in my youth when I took up sports as a way of engaging socially with friends. I found a love of sport and being active and healthy, and that led me into a career in healthcare as a pharmacist. I always had a keen interest in the more natural side of healing even within the pharmacy world, with curiosity about herbals and supplements as alternatives to medications.”
“My health coach journey began in my early 40’s as I started to put on the dreaded midlife weight gain despite exercising and ‘eating healthy’ (read standard american diet) as I had always done. Developing significant asthma and allergies in my 40’s was unexpected, as were the symptoms of perimenopause really becoming prominent at that early age. I was exhausted, falling asleep while commuting and at my desk in the afternoon, drinking more and more coffee right through to day’s end just to stay awake till bedtime, not to mention being irritable.”
“I realized there might be more to the puzzle than just keep exercising more and more, finding 3 workouts a day becoming unsustainable with 3 little kids and facing down single motherhood with a divorce on the horizon. I began my journey with finding an audiobook called The Obesity Code by Jason Fung, and as I listened I felt like my mind was being opened to whole new world, a new way of looking at health that I had never heard of in all my years of healthcare training as a pharmacist. This was the missing piece to the puzzle.”
“Since that day, I jumped in with both feet into the metabolic health world, devouring all the information I could get my hands on. First through intermittent fasting, and building onto that with low-carb strategies and gut health approaches, I lost the weight and developed a new approach to health that didn’t leave me exhausted, physically and mentally. Building on optimizing dietary and exercise strategies, I have also improved both my asthma/allergies and my perimenopause symptoms.”
“I am so excited and graetful to have the opportunity to be part of the Insulin IQ community! Learning how we can reverse and avoid so much of the chronic disease for which we give patients life-long medication has inspired me as a healthcare professional to truly offer something better to patients and clients. Through coaching clients, I help people master their metabolic health, so that they hopefully don’t become patients of the pharmacy filling those medications for chronic diseases because now they have tools for health.”
“I live in the great white north, Edmonton, Alberta home to some of the planet’s coldest temperatures and in the vicinity of the treasured Rocky Mountains. Along with my fiancee, my 3 teenage daughters and our beloved golden doodle Sam, I spend my days hiking, canoeing, skiing, camping, gardening, and anything enjoying the outdoors. I also love adventuring with travel and cooking, trying cuisine from across the world.”
“I am excited to take a health journey with you—there’s no shortage of adventures to be had!”
