āIn June, 2018, I hit my rock bottom. I was overweight, depressed, angry, burned out, no energy, and my body ached all the time. I was food and sugar addicted, food obsessed and hungry all of the time. I was pre-diabetic and had brain fog. I was literally at my wits end.ā
āQuite frankly, Iād allowed life to beat me into submission.ā
āIn June, 2018, I learned about exogenous ketones and thought they were my answer to permanent weight loss. I spent a lot of money on them before realizing that they were not the magic pill that Iād hoped they would be. June 2018 thru December 2018, I went down a rabbit hole and learned everything that I could about the ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting.ā
āDecember 2, 2018 I started keto and intermittent fasting. Initially, I did everything all wrong. But with time, education, persistence and experimentation I eventually got my āstudy of oneā right! In April, 2019, I made the decision to leave a 23-year, soul-draining career so that I could focus on my mental, emotional, and physical health and figure my life out.ā
āIāve had sustainable improvements in the following areas... Increased energy, confidence, and self esteemāthe depression lifted and rarely makes an appearance. No more brain fog... My cognitive ability has improved substantially and resulted in much better moodāno more mood swings! Food, processed food, sugar, carbohydrate addiction, compulsive and binge eating are all in remission.ā
āOh, and by the way, I started this way of life (low-insulin lifestyle) when I was 50! These improvements came at middle age with real food, education and a willingness to try, and try again, until I figured it out.ā
