“In my early 50s, I was a 200-pound T2 diabetic with all the ills that are associated with that. My wife and I started adopting our three children, beginning with my now 12-year-old son. As I held him in my arms in the Barbara Bush Neonatal Care Center, my concerns turned towards two things: how was I going to help him as his parent with the genetic and metabolic issues handed down to him by his birth parents; how were we (Robin and I) going to be healthy enough to raise three children at a time when most people are planning retirement. I immediately dropped out of my IT Management PhD program and turned my 30+ years of IT engineering expertise towards the problems of nutrition and human health. This marked the beginning of my journey from T2 diabetic to health advocate, a journey that has inspired me to share my experiences and knowledge with others.”
